A special place for a special dayHave your wedding in our beautiful Town HallIf you're making plans for your wedding, make sure you've talked to us about the possibilities of holding the ceremony in Hebden Bridge Town Hall. Civil Weddings and Civil PartnershipsWhen the Town Hall became community-owned in 2010, one of the first changes we made was to get the necessary licence, so that civil weddings and civil partnerships became possible for the first time in Hebden Bridge. Since then, our beautiful building in the heart of Hebden Bridge has played host to many memorable weddings and civil partnerships. We'd welcome the chance to host your event, too.
We can offer something different from the feel of an anonymous registry office or hotel suite. We can also offer to work closely with you in planning your event. The venueAt present, ceremonies take place in the Town Hall Council Chamber (shown above and below). The room, dating back to 1898, is wood-panelled with a fabulous plasterwork ceiling - and above with views out across Hebden Bridge to the hills beyond. From Spring 2012 we will also be able to offer our brand-new Waterfront Hall, built alongside the river Hebden. You'll be able to choose whether to have the ceremony in the traditional surroundings of the Chamber or in the Waterfront (which will take up to 200 people). Or you'll be able to mix and match, holding the Ceremony in the Chamber and then have the function afterwards in the Waterfront. As part of our wedding package at the Waterfront, wedding parties will have exclusive use of the riverside courtyard. 'Uncloned' and 'funky' Hebden Bridge proving popular for weddingsWe're finding that Hebden Bridge Town Hall is proving popular for weddings and civil partnerships not only with local couples. Hebden Bridge itself is a lively town set in the Pennine hills, with a strong community life and a fantastic range of interesting independent shops and restaurants. In fact, the town has been voted the 'least cloned' High Street in the country. One magazine recently declared it the 'fourth funkiest town' in the world, behind communities in Australia, Brazil and Vermont. Full support from local businessesWe hope you'll be able to support some of our local businesses. If you want, we can put you in touch with - among others - local florists, photographers and video-makers, home furnishing shops, printers, and bands to help you make the arrangements for your event as straightforward as possible. Contact infoYou'll be dealing primarily with two of us. Sue Graham, our Administrator, will be able to discuss dates and times with you - you'll reach her on 01422 845261 or by email. Sue will also put you in touch with Gwen Goddard, who is our trustee who has been given a particular responsibility for wedding arrangements and who will be delighted to discuss your likely requirements. We look forward to hearing from you. And when you're ready, here's the booking form.
