Our development plansWe are actively developing a major new-build extension to the Town Hall. Details here.
|
DirectionsWe aim to be a sustainable transport building. This means we positively encourage visitors and users of the Town Hall to use public transport where possible, or to walk or cycle. By train: Hebden Bridge has a very good rail service from Leeds, Bradford, York, Manchester and Preston. Leave the station by the station approach road, turn left to walk through the park, leaving the park at the far end by the canal bridge. Walk down Holme Street, continue into pedestrianised Bridge Gate, and turn left by St George's Square. The Town Hall is immediately over the river, on your left. (10 mins walk) By bus: Buses serve Hebden Bridge from Halifax, Todmorden, Burnley, Rochdale and Keighley. Most buses stop in New Road (the main road). From the main traffic lights in the town centre, walk along the pedestrianised Bridge Gate, turning left by St George's Square. The Town Hall is immediately over the river, on your left. By cycle: Hebden Bridge is on both route 66 and route 68 of the national cycle network. Lockable cycle boxes are available at Hebden Bridge station and at the Bridge Gate car park. Cycle stands are also located in various parts of the town. (Our new building will have an integrated bike store and showers!) By car: There are pay and display car parks immediately adjacent to the Town Hall, and also close by in Garden Street and Valley Road. If you are travelling from Todmorden, pass the shops in Market Street, take the first left after Barclays Bank up Old Gate (one way street), and the Town Hall is about 100m ahead. From Halifax, turn right once past the station, taking the road to Keighley; turn second left, by the White Lion hotel, and follow the road round to find the Town Hall on your left. From Keighley, turn right by the White Lion hotel, and follow the road round to find the Town Hall on your left. Visitors with mobility difficulties: Our new development will improve the accessibility of the Town Hall enormously, but please bear with us in the short term whilst the building work is undertaken. We have ramp access at the front of the Town Hall on request: please phone us to arrange for the ramp to be positioned. A stair creeper may be available for use (courtesy of the Town Council) if required in order to reach the first floor. Please contact us on 01422 845261 for more information. There are disabled parking bays immediately opposite the Town Hall in the market car park (not available on market days: Weds and Thurs). Our new development, when complete, will have two disabled parking bays available. Hebden Bridge Town Hall is in St. George's Street, Hebden Bridge HX7 7BY. The entrance is directly opposite the (southern) end of Valley Road - see map!
